Our Story

I was living at an apartment complex where I was a Resident Assistant and visited many of the buildings.  I remember talking with him, his brother and a bunch of his friends before school started and thinking that his brother was cute, but was too close to my age and too soon off his mission, but Andrew was really cute too. While we talked he became the focus of my thoughts.  His roommate had gone on a group date with me the year before and remembered me and asked me to a party at his house/apartment.  There again was Andrew his roommate.  Andrew was known for having big snakes a Burmese Python and some others.  Nick however asked for my number first, which I later found was an intention of Andrew's.  I wasn't really interested in Nick, but he was nice enough that I went out with him a few times and would go over to his house for games etc...especially when I knew Andrew was going to be there.   Andrew started dating other people and I did too, but occasionally I would see him on the bus or at his house and we would make conversation.  One conversation he came into his house with a big gun and was telling about it.  I teased and asked how many he had.  "I dunno, a bunch."  I joked and asked why he needed so many.  His reply was that he needed to buy as many as he could before he got married and his wife told him he couldn't.  :)  I had no idea at that point that the wife would be me and that I was going to marry such an avid hunter.

Nick finally found another girl as he discovered I didn't have much interest.  Andrew without even asking for my number got it and called me.   I had 18 credits, 2 jobs and was the Relief Society president in my student ward at that time.  I needed a break.  I decided to go visit my newborn niece that weekend and told Andrew I wouldn't be able to make it.  We texted for  about an hour instead and got many of the get to know you questions taken care of...I found out that we were a lot the same.   Luckily the next week Andrew asked me out again and we enjoyed our first date at Cafe Sabor.  Conversation ran beautifully, Andrew did most of the talking (I loved it in contrast to some torturous dates I had recently had).  The only downfall to the night was the bone I found in my Pollo Durango I was a little embarrassed pulling it back out of my mouth in front of my new date.

Without a lot of the fun, but lengthy details I will just say, we started dating.   This picture is small, but it was taken from our 3rd date, the spring formal at USU.
By the 4th date I felt that I didn't want to date anyone else.  Only about a month passed when Andrew had to move to Texas for summer sales Pest Control.  It was as I helped him pack and he left that I realized how upset I was about it and that this was a big deal.  He was only gone for a few weeks when I "proposed".  I simply said I would feel really bad if I didn't marry him.  He freaked out a little, but got over it.  He flew in for my birthday in June and surprised me.  The deal was sealed and he told me he loved me (didn't want to say it over the phone).  He asked my dad's permission that weekend. (I think I was more anxious about it that Andrew).  4th of July I went to Texas where the official proposal took place.  October 20th was the date, until I decided it was too long and what was the point of waiting.  September 28th it was.  We were married in the LDS Temple for eternity.  What a wonderful day that was.  The fall leaves were at their peak and the weather was just warm enough, but not too warm.  I just remember it being a wonderful day.  No stresses, just a party, I let Mom take care of all the stress.  We had a beautiful reception at my parents place in the front yard.  I don't even remember what food was there.  I think someone took a picture.
